Day 25
Our journey to Hong Kong began on June 25th, when we all met at 1:45 AM in the lobby of the Ciarus hostel. After a nighttime walk through the streets of Strasbourg, we took a 6 hour bus to Munich, followed by a 1 hour bus to the airport, a 10 hour flight to Beijing…
Day 26
… and finally a 3.5 hour flight to Hong Kong. By that point, it was June 26th!
Unfortunately, there is no rest for the wicked, and also, unrelatedly, there is no rest for the Dins. We went straight to ISF Academy, where we met up with Wayne Fu #129 and his parent choir, Sing Ba Sing Ma. After a sound check, we gathered in the school's auditorium with Sing Ba Sing Ma and some high school and college singing groups, as well as some other people with potentially no affiliation. We ran a workshop on Brett Harrison #189's arrangement of The Moon Represents My Heart, then performed in a big concert with the other groups. At the end, we sang The Moon Represents My Heart with all the singers from that night, with a beautiful solo by Mark #290 (videos potentially to come)!
After the concert, the parents from Sing Ba Sing Ma took us to a very nice Western-style restaurant in a shopping mall, where we had drinks and lots of fun conversations! When the parents heard that we were planning to take public transit to the hotel, they very kindly insisted on helping drive us, which was a lovely ending to our extremely long journey.
Day 27
The next day, I slept until about 2:00 PM. However, some of the other Dins got pineapple buns from a nearby cafe and explored the city. A couple hours later, we went to our second gig of the stop, which was on the top floor of an extremely tall building. Our host, Alison, introduced us to the guests at the event, who were mostly personal friends. We had an incredible meal with the guests, then sang a 45-minute set before dessert.
After the event, some Dins went to explore the city some more. Although they did not end up going to the #1 bar in the world, they still had a great time!
